Huskies Edge Out Arizona 4-3 On The Road

TUSCON, Ariz. – The No. 61 Washington Huskies edged out Arizona 4-3 today at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
The Dawgs picked up the point in doubles, winning two of three competitive matches. Stacey Fung and Sophia Bott got the Huskies off on the right foot, defeating Inge Hendrikx and Samantha Czarniak 6-3 on court two. Arizona's No. 53 duo of Lauren Marker and Shayne Austin defeated the No. 28 duo of Nour Abbes and Miki Kobayashi on court one 6-4. Washington then clinched the point when Elianne Douglas-Miron and Kenadi Hance took down Camila Wesbrooks and Devin Chypyha 7-5 on court three.
Arizona evened the match at 1-1 to start singles play with Wesbrooks defeating Tami Grende 6-3, 6-0 on court four. The Dawgs went back up on court two when Fung defeated Shayne Austin 6-3, 6-1. Czarniak tied it up again for the Wildcats, defeating Hance 6-4, 6-1 on court five.
Abbes battled back after dropping her first set to take down No. 39 Marker 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 on court one but Chypyha kept Arizona alive on court three by defeating Douglas-Miron 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 to even the score at 3-3.
The back and forth match came down to a battle on court six where Sophia Bott ended up securing the victory for the Dawgs, taking down Sophia Thomas in three sets 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
