SEATTLE - Washington added one more member to its NCAA Indoor Championships contingent this week, as junior Kennadi Bouyer was moved into the 60-meter dash field after a late scratch from another competitor. Bouyer, who broke the Husky school record in the event this season, will get to make her NCAA Championships debut next Friday.
Bouyer, the University Place, Wash. native, twice ran career-best times of 7.32 seconds in the prelims and finals of the MPSF Championships last weekend, finishing as the conference runner-up in the event. When the initial NCAA fields were announced last Tuesday, the 16th and final time into the meet was 7.31 seconds, but one withdrawal after the first announcement gave Bouyer the new life.
Washington will now have a total of 14 athletes competing at Indoors, covering nine individual event entries and the men's and women's distance medley relays. The championships are set for Mar. 11-12 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Bouyer is the first women's Husky sprinter to earn an individual bid to NCAA Indoors since Ashley Lodree took third in the 60m hurdles in 2007.
