Petersen Named Finalist For The Dodd Trophy

ATLANTA – Officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl have announced the finalists for the 2016 Dodd Trophy and Washington coach Chris Petersen was among the five finalists for the award. Petersen joins Colorado's Mike MacIntyre, Wisconsin's Paul Chryst, Western Michigan's P.J. Fleck and Navy's Ken Niumatalolo in the running for the nation's top coaches award.
Petersen guided Washington to a 12-1 record and its first Pac-12 Championship since 2000. The Huskies are one of four College Football Playoff participants and will play No. 1 Alabama in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta on Dec. 31 at noon PT.
The Huskies' third-year coach was the 2010 recipient of the Dodd Award after leading Boise State to a 12-1 record. He is also a two-time winner of the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award in 2006 and 2009.
Finalists were selected by a panel consisting of all previous winners, national media, a member of the Dodd family and a College Football Hall of Fame member.
