SEATTLE – The fall season for the Washington women's tennis team comes to an end this weekend, when the team hits the road for the David Kent Invitational in College Station, Texas from Friday November 4th to Sunday the 6th.
"We had a solid week of practice leading up to this weekend in Texas," said sophomore Stacey Fung. "All of us should be going into our matches with a lot of belief and pride."
The team's most recent action was in Palo Alto, Calif. at the USTA/ITA Northwest Regional, where junior Alexis Prokopuik and Fung reached the round of 16 in singles. Each will enter this weekend with a singles record of 5-2 this fall, which leads the team.
In doubles, 13th ranked Nour Abbes and Miki Kobayashi lead the Dawgs, who hold a 2-2 record and have already defeated a top-ranked opponent this season at the ITA Women's All-American Championships in a 6th ranked Ohio State duo.
"As a team we're looking to continue to be resilient, disciplined and leave everything out on the court," said Fung.
Washington will be joined by host Texas A&M, TCU and Rice this weekend, with a similar playing format as the Wolverine Invitational last month, facing a team each day in singles and doubles.
