Scambray Gets First Offensive Player Of The Week
November 14, 2016 | Volleyball
SEATTLE – Junior Tia Scambray today became the third different Husky this season to win Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week following her leading role in Washington's two home sweeps over the Arizona schools. Scambray had a career-high 20 kills in the 3-0 win over Arizona State on Sunday.
It's the first career Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for Scambray, who was a two-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week back in 2014. She joins junior teammates Crissy Jones and Courtney Schwan who were each named Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season. Washington is the only team with three different players named Offensive POTW.
Heading into the matches with the Wildcats and Sun Devils, Scambray had a three-set career-high of 13 kills. She tied that in the sweep of No. 25 Arizona, with 13 kills on a .323 attack percentage. Then Sunday, she not only broke her three-set high, but set her overall career-high with 20 kills on an outstanding .567 attack percentage. That broke her previous best of 19 kills in a five set win earlier this year at American.
For the week she averaged 5.50 kills per set, hit .443, had 2.67 digs per set, and added a pair of aces against ASU.
Washington is ranked eighth this week and is tied for first in the Pac-12 with UCLA at 12-4, with an overall 22-4 record. The Huskies have four matches to go in the regular season starting with a road match at Colorado this Friday at 7 p.m. Pacific time.
