PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – The first round of action for the Washington women's tennis team begins today as thirteenth ranked Nour Abbes and Miki Kobayashi open up the year at the 2016 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in the main draw doubles bracket.
Abbes and Kobayashi will open up against Elena Cerezo-Codina and Caroline Daxhelet of Virginia Tech, who qualified for the main draw through the qualifying doubles bracket. The Hokie pair won three straight matches to advance to the main draw, and are the first ever duo from the school to advance to the doubles main draw event.
Ohio State's Miho Kowase and Anna Sanford await the winner of the Dawg's first match and are currently ranked the No. 5 duo in the country. Last season the Husky duo grabbed two wins over top-5 ranked opponents, including one in the Pac-12 Championships.
The 24-team bracket will consist of five rounds, with the first two being played out today. You can follow along with action by going to the ITA's event page via the link above, or by checking in on our website at GoHuskies.com.
