
Day Two At Wolverine Invitational Concludes For UW

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Day two at the Wolverine Invitational came to a close this afternoon for the Washington women's tennis team, playing in both singles and doubles today.
The Huskies began the morning with doubles, facing three teams from Miami. Switching up the pairings from yesterday, Tami Grende picked up her second doubles win of the weekend with Kenadi Hance in a close match 7-6 (3). UW's other two duos dropped their matches, with Stacey Fung and Katarina Kopcalic falling 6-3, and Lana Slavica and Alexis Prokopuik falling short 6-4.
In singles the Dawgs matched up with Michigan, dropping four of their five matchups. Fung faced a tough opponent in 11th ranked Brienne Minor, coming back to win the second set after losing the first, but ultimately fell 6-2, 1-6, 6-4. Freshman Lana Slavica kept her match close, just getting edged out in the first set 7-5, and losing a tough second set 6-4. The lone win for the Huskies came from junior transfer Alexis Prokopuik, who defeated Kara Hall 6-1, 6-4.
Tomorrow will be the final day of competition at the Wolverine Invitational, beginning at 7 a.m. when they will face Princeton in singles, before closing out the weekend with doubles against Michigan.
