
Dawgs End First Day Of Play At Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – In the first day of action at the Wolverine Invitational, the Washington women's tennis team was led by sophomore Stacey Fung, who grabbed a win in both singles and doubles today at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The Huskies began the day early in the morning with singles, matching up with the University of Miami. Fung grabbed the lone win for the Dawgs, defeating Estela Perez-Somarriba 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, with Tami Grende and Lana Slavica falling to ranked opponents. Junior Alexis Prokopuik, sophomore Kenadi Hance and freshman Katarina Kopcalic fell in their matches as well.
In the afternoon, three doubles pairs were in action for UW, each matching up with a duo from Princeton. The sophomore team of Fung and Grende picked up the win in their match, defeating Caroline Joyce and Nicole Kalhorn 6-2. Prokopuik and Hance fell in their match 6-2, with freshman duo Slavica and Kopcalic dropping their match as well, 6-3.
Tomorrow, Washington will begin the day by facing Miami in doubles at 11 a.m., followed by singles against the tournament host, Michigan.
