
Washington Opens Fall Husky Classic With No Hitter

SEATTLE, WASH. – Rain might have cancelled the first day of the Fall Husky Classic, but it did not stop the teams Sunday afternoon. The Huskies faced Western Washington and Wenatchee Valley College and shutout the WVC Knights in a no hitter. The team held the Western Washington to only one run in the second game.
Pitcher Madi Schreyer started off the first game on a four strikeout streak. On the offense side, the Dawgs ran in two in the first.
The fourth and fifth innings were dominated by the Dawgs when eight runs were scored in each inning. The runs were highlighted by homeruns from Taylor Van Zee, Casey Stangel, Morganne Flores and Krystal Aubert.
Casey Stangel totaled for three homers on the day, one of which was a grand slam in the third inning against Western.
In the second game the Dawgs' exploded offensively right away with thirteen runs in the first two innings.
In total, the team recorded 48 hits in their two games and 37 total runs (21-0 vs WVC, 16-1 vs WWU).
Fans can catch the Huskies in action one last time this fall in Chehalis, Wash., when they meet Portland State at Ft. Borst Park. The teams will play in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Admission for the games will be free.
