TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 23 Washington picked up right where they left off, beginning the spring season by leading the Arizona Intercollegiate after day one from the Casino Del Sol Resort. The Dawgs completed play on Friday at 9-under, two shots better than No. 10 Texas for the lead. Play was suspended due to darkness with most teams through 14 to 17 holes of the second round. Washington fired an opening round of 7-under 277 to take a seven shot lead after round one.
Texas was 7-under when play was suspended during the second round to pull closer to the Dawgs who were 2-under in round two. Third place is occupied by No. 21 California, but they are well back at 3-over for the tournament.
