BEN EION, Nova Scotia, Canada -- Recent Husky grad Cheng-Tsung Pan continued the fast start to his professional career over the weekend, earning his second win on the Mackenzie Tour by capturing the PGA Tour Canada's Cape Breton Celtic Classic.
The win came in the second playoff hole as Pan drained a five-foot birdie putt to defeat Taylor Pendrith for the victory. For the 72 holes, Pan shot 19-under 269, including birdying the last five holes of the championship and both playoff holes.
Pan needed birdie on the 18th to get into the playoff and chipped in for a fifth-stright birdie. In the playoff, both players made birdie on the first hole, before Pan got up and down from the greenside bunker on the par five to make his birdie, while Pendrith missed his birdie putt from inside of Pan.
The win is the second on the Mackenzie Tour for Pan who is now second in the Tour's order of merit, despite playing just six events. Pan also won the Players Cup back in July and now has made $78,448 on the Mackenzie Tour.
He'll wrap up the Mackenzie Tour season next weekend at the Freedom 55 Financial Championship in London, Canada. This tournament is only open to the top-60 players on the Tour and will decide the final order of merit with the top-five players earning status on the Web.com Tour next season.
