Huskies Host UBC For Exhibition Game
September 10, 2015 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE -- No. 6 Washington will host British Columbia on Friday night at 7 p.m. for a friendly against the Canadian side. The game will not count towards the standings for the Dawgs who have a break from regular competition this week.
Friday's game will be free admission at Husky Soccer Field and also available on a webcast through the link HERE.
Friday's exhibition will not count towards eligibility requirements so head coach Jamie Clark can play his full roster, including redshirts. The Dawgs are expected to try several younger players and different combinations.
Washington is off to a 3-0-1 start to the season, moving up in the NSCAA Rankings to No. 6. The Dawgs have yet to allow a goal all season with Ryan Herman earning three shutouts and Auden Schilder earning the other in his collegiate debut. The backline of Luke Hauswirth, Quinton Pearson, Justin Schmidt and Justin Fiddes has played nearly every minute thus far and been formidable.
Offensively, the Dawgs have created plenty of chances and are led in scoring by James Moberg who has converted twice from the penalty spot. Josh Heard, Beau Blanchard and Michael Gallagher are the other Husky goal scorers.
This weeks opponent, UBC, plays a combination of American and Canadian teams. The Thunderbirds are 2-0-3 on the season with a win over Western Washington and ties with Seattle Pacific and Evergreen State College in their previous trips to Washington state. Last year, UBC went 12-4-1 and advanced to the West Canada Final Four.
Following Friday's match, the Dawgs will be back to the normal college season when they host Dartmouth and Havard on Sept. 18 and 20.
