November 09, 2015 | Women's Soccer
SEATTLE – UW women's soccer earned its second straight and 14th overall NCAA Tournament berth, and will head to College Station, Texas, to take on Texas A&M in its first round matchup. The match is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. CT and will be shown on the SEC Network +.
“We get to start over again,” UW head coach Lesle Gallimore said. “We have to take all the lessons we've learned into the NCAA tournament and use the 1-0 mantra we've preached all season. We're going to prepare to go down there and have our best day.”
UW will make its second straight NCAA tournament appearance and third in the last four years. The Huskies made to the Sweet Sixteen in 2014 before falling to Stanford in Palo Alto, Calif., to end their season.
The Huskies' best showings in the NCAA tournament came in 2004 and 2008, when UW made it to the Elite Eight.
Texas A&M (15-6-1, 6-4-1 SEC) is coming off a loss to Florida in the SEC Tournament Championship game to Florida. The Aggies advanced to the Final Four in 2014, their first-ever College Cup appearance.
“Texas A&M is a good team, they're well coached and they get ridiculous crowds so the atmosphere will be unbelievable,” Gallimore said. “It's a great place to play. We have fond memories in College Station.”
A full match preview will be published prior to Friday's match. For more on UW women's soccer, follow the Huskies on Facebook and on Snapchat, Periscope, Twitter and Instagram at @UW_WSoccer.
