SAN FRANCISCO – Tuesday, the All-Pac-12 Men's Soccer Teams were announced with six Huskies being honored. Ryan Herman was named the All-Conference First Team, while Kyle Coffee, Justin Schmidt and Henry Wingo were named to the Second Team. Josh Heard and Quentin Pearson were the final winners, each being named Honorable Mention.
Herman had an outstanding season in goal for the Huskies, posting 10 shutouts and leading the conference with a 0.63 goals against average and 85 saves. He was also among the national leaders in all three categories and will finish his career at Washington with 18 shutouts, which is tied for fourth in team history.
Coffee scored two goals on the season, becoming more and more a part of the Husky attack as the season progressed. His first career goal was a game-winner against then-No. 4 Stanford, while he also scored at UCLA. Coffee was second on the team with 36 shots and with three years of eligibility remaining has a bright future in Seattle.
Schmidt also earned second team honors, anchoring the defense from his spot at center back. He led a backline that allowed just 13 goals all season, best in the Pac-12. Schmidt was also a force going forward, scoring once and providing three assists. His goal against UCLA came on an incredible free kick from 25 yards out.
Finally, Wingo stepped up into a feature role after James Moberg was lost to injury. He played every game and led the Washington attacking players in minutes, often going the whole game in the central midfield. Wingo led the Huskies with 50 shots, including 18 on goal.
Pearson and Heard earned honorable mention honors from two ends of the field. Heard scored a goal and added two assists as the Dawgs top winger from the right side, while Pearson joined Schmidt at center back for the Husky defense that was best in the Pac-12.
Pac-12 Champion Stanford took home most of the key awards as Jordan Morris won Player of the Year, Brandon Vincent won Defensive Player of the Year and Jeremy Gunn was Coach of the Year. In addition, Jose Hernandez of UCLA was named Freshman of the Year.
