
Four Huskies Honored On All-Pac-12 Teams

SEATTLE – UW women's soccer had four players honored by the Pac-12, as McKenzie Karas was named to the All-Pac-12 First Team, Kimberly Keever and Shannon Simon were named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team, and Kelcie Hedge was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, as announced by the conference.

In her first season as a full-time starting center back, Karas has been a dominant force on the back line for the Huskies. She has helped UW to six shutouts this season and was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11. Karas has one goal this season, finishing a corner kick against Utah. She also scored the Huskies' game-winning goal in UW's win over Rider in the first round of the NCAA tournament last season, and scored once in her sophomore season to give her three career goals.
Coming off a 2014 season that saw her earn Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honors, Keever continued to pester back lines and has scored six goals in 2015, second most on the team and matching the six goals she scored in 2014. Keever has game-winners this season against Oregon State, Cal and Seattle U, as well as two goals just 36 seconds apart to bring the Huskies back from a 2-0 deficit and tie Gonzaga. She also scored the Huskies' lone goal in a 1-1 tie at Colorado.
Simon leads the Huskies in goals scored and assists in 2015, with seven goals and five assists. She was named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sep. 7-13. Simon was also named the Offensive MVP of both the Husky Nike Invitational and the Nike Portland Invitational. She finished the regular season tied for third in the conference in goals and tied for sixth in assists, totaling 20 total points, tied for fifth in the conference. Simon's four game-winning goals are tied for second in the Pac-12 and her 75 shots are third-most in the Pac-12. Simon led the Huskies in 2014 with five assists.
Entering the season as the No. 13 ranked recruit in the nation, Hedge finished her freshman campaign with four goals and two assists, including game-winners against Michigan and Utah. She has appeared and started in all 20 games and finished the regular season with 48 shots, second-most on the team.
The Huskies earned their second straight and 14th overall NCAA Tournament berth, and will head to College Station, Texas, to take on Texas A&M in its first round matchup on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. CT and will be shown on the SEC Network +.
