
Dawgs to Wrap Up Fall Season at Pac-12 Preview in Hawaii

SEATTLE – The University of Washington women's golf team heads to Hawaii this week to wrap up the fall season at the Pac-12 Preview. The two-day 54-hole event hosted by the University of Hawaii is being held at the Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona.
The 12-team field features four teams ranked in the top 10 nationally – No. 1 USC, No. 2 Stanford, No. 6 UCLA and No. 9 Arizona along with No. 15 Arizona State, No. 16 Washington, No. 23 California, No. 26 Colorado and No. 32 Oregon. Washington State (No. 66), Oregon State (No. 72) and host Hawaii (No. 86) round out the field.
The Huskies will be sending all seven players with Ying Luo, Wenyung Keh, Charlotte Thomas, Sarah Rhee and Julianne Alvarez competing in the team rotation.
In four tournaments this fall, the Huskies have finished no lower than eighth while taking top honors once and earning a third-place effort. The Dawgs were named the GolfWeek Team of the Week following their team title at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational while freshman Julianne Alvarez picked of Player of the Week honors for her first place finish at the same tournament.
Here's a look at how the five-player rotation has competed so far this season.
Ying Luo
- Luo has posted solid finishes in four tournaments this year, finishing fourth at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational (4-over 220), tying for 20th at the Stanford Intercollegiate, placing tied for 25th at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate (even-par 216) and tying for 22nd at the Edean (5-over 221)
- Luo climbed 28 spots over the final two rounds at the Edean Ihlanfeldt despite bad weather conditions
- Luo is one of two seniors on the seven-member squad
Wenyung Keh
- Keh has been in the Huskies rotation in all five tournaments this season and has been UW's top performer twice
- Most recently Keh finished tied for 20th at the stacked Stanford Intercollegiate
- The freshman led the Dawgs at the Edean Ihlanfedt as she tied for fifth with a 5-over 221.
- Keh carded the third best score in the final round at the Edean with her 1-over 73
- The New Zealand native finished tied for 34th at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate after being paired with some of the top golfers in the country
Sarah Rhee
- Rhee has been in the rotation in all five of the Dawgs' tournaments so far this season
- Rhee posted her best finish of the season with a second-place effort at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational and was one of two players to card a subb-70 round during the final 18 holes, firing a 3-under 69
- Rhee posted a 14-over 230 for 35th at the Edean Ihlanfeldt and tied for 47th in Orlando at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate
- Rhee is the reigning WIAA 3A State Champion
Charlotte Thomas
- Senior Charlotte Thomas has carded two top 10 and three top 20 finishes this season
- She finished tied for 6th with a 6-over 222 at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational
- Thomas' 7th place tie at the Edean Ihlanfeldt gave her the 12th top 10 finish of her career, which gives her sole possession of sixth all-time at UW for Top 10 finishes
- Thomas also led the Dawgs at the prestigious ANNIKA Intercollegiate with a three-day total of 2-under 214 to finish tied for 16th overall.
Julianne Alvarez
-Alvarez has been in the rotation in all five of the Dawgs' tournaments so far this season and has been at the number one spot twice
-Alvarez earned Golfweek Player of the Week honors after winning the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational
-The New Zealand native has already earned one individual title this season most recently finishing with a 5-under at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational which included a season-low round of 68 on the final day
-She tied for 28th at the Edean Ihlanfeldt last week with a 17-over 233
- Alvarez posted UW's best round at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate as she knocked in three birdies for a 3-under 69 during her final round to conclude the tournament 18 spots higher than she started
- Alvarez was one of just six in the 60-person field to shoot under 70 during the final round
