
Day Two Of Washington Invitational In The Books

SEATTLE – Day two of the Washington Invitational finished up this afternoon as the Huskies women's tennis team played host to Kentucky, Oregon and Pepperdine.
The day began with doubles again as Elainne Douglas-Miron and Stacey Fung picked up where they left off yesterday, defeating Kentucky's Akvile Parazinskaite and Justina Mikulskyte 6-3. Miki Kobayashi and Sophia Bott fell to No. 9 Mami Adachi and Aldila Sutjiadi of Kentucky 6-3, while Tami Grende and Kenadi Hance triumphed in a 7-6 thriller, winning the tiebreaker 7-4 against Kirsten Lewis and Morgan Chumney of Kentucky. Grace Ysidora paired with Kentucky's Kate Lanier to defeat Oregon's Paloma Gomez and Micheline Aubuchon 7-6 with a 7-3 tie breaker.
Freshman Hance and Fung won both of their singles matches against Pepperdine as Hance defeated Danielle Feneridis 6-0, 6-0 and Fung defeated No. 65 Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai 6-3, 6-0. Douglas-Miron fell to Laura Gulbe 6-3, 6-0 and Grende fell to Milovanovic 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, both from Pepperdine.
“We saw some really good things out there,” said head coach Robin Stephenson. “Stacey stood out today and showed a lot of poise to get a great win against a quality ranked opponent and added another doubles win.”
Finishing off the day in singles Bott fell to Mikulskyte of Kentucky 6-2, 6-1 while Kobayashi won 6-2, 6-0 against Kentucky's Lainer. Ysidora played the final singles match of the day defeating Aubuchon of Oregon 6-2, 6-2.
“We are getting a lot out of these matches and learning a lot about the team,” said Stephenson. “We are going to continue to focus on getting better with each match and look to finish out the weekend strong tomorrow.”
