
GymDawgs Win OSU Quad Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. – UW gymnastics got a huge win Friday night, taking first in a quad meet at Oregon State with a score of 196.300, a season high. The Huskies were strong in all four events, led by Allison Northey's all-around title and Joslyn Goings top-three finishes on beam and vault.
“I couldn't be prouder of the team tonight,” head coach Joanne Bowers said. “We continue to improve and we are on the right path. We know if we keep working hard we will be where we want to be. A win tonight and a great score prove that. Allie Northey was on fire, really the best I've ever seen her and I'm so happy for her and proud of her performance.”
Northey finished with an all-around score of 39.450, a personal best.
The GymDawgs started the meet on the uneven bars. Northey's 9.875 was the Huskies' best score of the night in the event and took third overall. Janae Janik put up a strong 9.85 and McKenzie Fechter posted a 9.825. Hailey Burleson also posted a 9.825, a new personal best for the freshman. With a team score of 49.100 on bars, UW matched its season high.
Northey and Goings led the Huskies on beam, each recording a score of 9.825 to tie for second overall as the squad finished with a score of 48.950 on the event. The score was a new personal best for Goings.
The Huskies were solid on floor, with each gymnast scoring between a 9.775 and a 9.85. Northey and freshman Zoey Schaefer led the Huskies, each posting a 9.85 to tie for first in the event. Schaefer has recorded or tied for the high score in each of the team's four meets this season. Senior captain Madison Podlucky scored a 9.825 and Janik put up a 9.8 as the GymDawgs got a team score of 49.1 on floor.
Led by Northey's 9.9 to win the event, the Huskies scored a 49.150 on vault, a season high for UW. Stephanie Stowe and Schaefer each posted a 9.8 and Goings capped off a great meet with a 9.85, good for third in the event.
Host Oregon State took second in the meet with a score of 195.800, followed by Sacramento State in third and Hamline in fourth.
The Huskies continue their season on Monday, Feb. 9 with a trip to UCLA to take on the Bruins. The meet will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network.
