SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – No. 17 Washington hung in against some of the best teams in the country, holding their second-place position at the final round of the Western Intercollegiate. The Dawgs finished with a round of 4-over 354 to finish behind only No. 4 Stanford.

Washington finished with a three-round total of 6-over 1056, 16 strokes back of the Cardinal who took the tournament title. No. 3 California finished third two strokes back of the Dawgs, while San Diego State and Oregon rounded out the top five.

Jonathan Sanders led the Huskies with yet another top-10 finish, his fourth consecutive. Sanders finished Sunday with a round of 1-under 69 to complete the weekend at 2-under 208. He finished five strokes back of Stanford's Cameron Wilson who took the tournament title at 7-under for the weekend.

Also finishing at 2-under for the tournament for Washington and earning a top-10 finish was Trevor Simsby. The Husky senior entered the final round tied for the lead, but a final round of 4-over 74 dropped him back into the a tie for ninth. Still, Simsby earned a top-10 finish despite a rough final nine holes that included three bogeys and a double-bogey.

The Dawgs best round of the day came from Gerrit Chambers who finished at 3-under 67. Chambers made seven birdies on the day to jump up the leaderboard into a tie for 26^th at 4-over for the tournament.

Freshman Corey Pereira also had a high finish, placing tied for 18^th at 2-over for the tournament. Pereira followed up back-to-back rounds of even par with a 2-over 72 on Sunday to finish at 2-over for the tournament.

The final two players for the Dawgs were Cheng-Tsung Pan and Chris Babcock who each finished at 3-over 73. Pan placed tied for 33^rd for the tournament at 5-over, while Babcock was back in a tie for 68^th at 13-over.

The Western Intercollegiate was the final regular season tournament of the year for the Dawgs. Next up will be the Pac-12 Championships on April 25-27. The Dawgs will once again square off with several of the same teams as this weekend, including Stanford and Cal who enter the conference championship with the highest rankings.
