
Huskies Beat Portland, 5-2

SEATTLE – The Huskies opened their 2014 season on a positive note with a 5-2 dual match win over Portland on Thursday. The Huskies were led by Emmett Egger, who's 6-2, 6-4 singles win clinched the match.
The Huskies won four matches two of which were by freshman. Following Eggers' win, senior captain Max Manthou defeated Portland's Micheal Hukwo (5-7; 6-0; 6-2) followed by Gal Hakak's win over Reid Delaubenfels (6-2; 6-3) and Daffra Sanon's defeat of Ken Andreasen (6-2; 6-5).
In doubles action, Viktor Farkas and Max Manthou outlasted Delaubenfelds/Andreasen, 6-1 while Chamerski/Watanabe beat Hukwo/Guay 6-4. Egger and Hawke were defeated by Gill/Ferrero 6-4.
Up next for the Dawgs is a match against UC-Santa Barbara at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
