LOS ANGELES -- The Huskies remain third as a team and Chris Williams is tied for third among individuals through 54 holes of the 54th Annual Pac-12 Men's Golf Championship at Los Angeles Country Club.

Every Husky was over par for the round at the par-70 course and Washington was +19 as a team with a 369 to fall further behind first-place California and second-place UCLA. The Huskies are +28 overall with a three-round total of 1078.
The day started well for the Huskies. At one point they overtook UCLA on the leaderboard for second, but after the turn things unraveled for Coach Matt Thurmond's team.
"I don't know what happened exactly, but we lost it," he said. "We had a couple mistakes on 10, we didn't play 11 very well and No. 12 just killed us.
"It's major championship-type golf out there and if you want to play well you can't make big mistakes. Every little mistake you make out there is magnified."
The Huskies' six golfers combined to shoot 14-over on holes 11 through 13. That opened the door for the Bears and Bruins to distance themselves from Washington. Top-ranked Cal is +6 overall and holds a two shot lead over host UCLA, setting up what could be a wild finish on Wednesday.
Washington entered today's round five shots out of second and 18 shots ahead of fourth. The fourth-ranked Huskies also saw their comfortable margin between third and fourth-place dwindle considerably on Tuesday. Arizona State picked up 15 strokes on the Huskies and now sits just six shots back of UW in fourth.
While the Huskies are going to have to do everything they can to hold off the charging Sun Devils, they are not going to fold up their tents and give up on trying to win the tournament. Thurmond and his team have a history of making miraculous comebacks in the final round of the conference championship.
"In a play six, count five format you can have huge swings," Thurmond said. "Twenty-two shots is a lot and it's probably insurmountable, but in 2005 we were down 17 and we came back and won it in the final round. So, it's doable.
"I'm not going to say we're going to (win), but we're looking forward and we're going to try to play as well as we can."
Williams once again ends the day in the best shape on the leaderboard among Huskies. He is among four golfers tied for third with a three-round total of 2-under 208.
The senior was positioned to end the day second among the leaders before a double-bogey six on the 16th hole. Williams, the No. 1 ranked amateur in the world, also suffered a consecutive bogey stretch on holes 5 through 7 and ultimately had to settle for a final score of 72.
Williams is six shots back of Cal's Max Homa (-8), who shot a course record 61 in Monday's first rounds. UCLA's Jonathan Garrick is second at -3.
Besides Williams, junior Trevor Simsby remains in the top 10 among individuals. He is ninth at +1 overall with a total of 211. He shot the best round of the day by any Husky with a 71.
For the third-straight round Charlie Hughes mirrored each other's score. The teammates both shot 76 after shooting 70-74 yesterday. The pair is tied for 27th and is +10 overall.
Freshman Jonathan Sanders shot 74 to bring his three-day total to 222 (+12). He is tied for 36th.
Junior Gerrit Chambers was 7 over for the day and is tied for 52nd with a total of 228 (+18).
Washington will be paired with UCLA and Cal in the final round and will tee off at 9:00 a.m. from the No. 1 hole.
