WILSON ON HANSON: “Amy Hanson is one of the smartest catchers in the game. She has excellent knowledge of the pitchers, the ability to break down opposing hitters and is a committed student of the game. She's one of our best leaders.”
AS A JUNIOR (2002): One of the team's three captains, who was slated to see starting time at catcher … appeared in seven games, starting six behind the plate, before having season-ending shoulder injury … had surgery on her right shoulder in late February … hit .176 (3-for-17) with two runs scored, a double and a pair of RBI … started at catcher in the team's season-opener with Long Beach State, driving in a run with a single in her first at-bat … also had in a RBI against Louisiana-Monroe, as Jaime Clark tagged up and scored on her foul-out … 2-for-3 with two runs scored versus San Jose State, including a double … caught all 11 innings in a win against Florida Atlantic, tallying a team season-high for putouts with 13 … came in behind the plate for the final two innings in the February 9, meeting with Louisville … made last appearance at the University of Florida on February 14 … shared the team's Most Valuable Player award with Kristen Rivera.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2001): Started 55 of the Huskies' 63 games at catcher … missed seven games behind the plate after fracturing the ring finger on her catching hand against Kansas, February 25 … returned to the UW lineup defensively on March 15 in the team's first game of the Kia Klassic ... did not get back into the batting order until the team's first Pac-10 game in early April ... boasted a four-game hitting streak to open the season, scored three runs on five hits including a home run and two RBIs ... recorded her first collegiate hit in the team's season-opener versus Louisiana State ... notched a career-high 13 putouts in the team's 10-inning affair with Georgia (2/11) ... crushed her first home run in the team's victory over Texas Tech and later added another solo effort versus Tennessee-Chattanooga ... had a pair of RBI singles in the Huskies' come-from-behind win over Maryland ... belted a three-run shot over the fence, tallying a career-best three RBIs, versus Michigan State ... had a clutch two-out single to drive in a pair of runs at UCLA on April 13 ... career best three hits in four at-bats in UW's April 24 game at Portland State … 2-for-3 at the plate versus California on April 30 ... logged her first career postseason hit, an RBI single, against UMass on May 18 ... earned the team's Most Improved Player award.
AS A FRESHMAN (2000): Appeared in 16 games at second base and as a pinch hitter ... played in her first career NCAA game at the regional versus Western Illinois at second base ... made first career start at second base against Portland State in the team's 6-0 win ... recorded a career-high for at-bats (3) and added two putouts and two assists against the Vikings ... had one at-bat against Southern Utah and twice in a game with Utah ... recorded her first at-bat versus Texas and also had two putouts and two assists versus the Longhorns ... made her first career appearance as a Husky on February 11 against San Diego State at the Matador Invitational in Northridge, Calif.
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-time All-League and All-Area honoree at Mount Vernon High School under head coach Alan Williams ... pitched and played shortstop her freshman and sophomore seasons before settling at shortstop her final two campaigns ... helped her team win the league championship her senior year ... named either offensive or defensive MVP of her team all four seasons ... also lettered two years in basketball and one year in volleyball ... basketball team won the league championship her junior and senior seasons, finishing sixth at state her final year ... member of the honor roll ... also played for the Madness Magic club team, which won the state championship in 1998.
