Huskies Set For Close-Up At Pac-12 Track
USC hosts the conference championships for the third time and first since 2003.
2012: Excellent freshman season in the javelin as one of four Huskies to advance to the NCAA West Preliminary Championships ... fell just a couple spots short of advancing to the NCAA finals, as he placed 15th at the West Prelims with a throw of 215-feet, 1-inch ... the fourth-place finisher at the Pac-12 Championships as four Huskies scored, his best was 218-5 ... had a season's-best toss of 222-3 at the UW-WSU Dual meet, placing second, as the Huskies swept the top four spots ... that mark ranked 41st nationally and seventh among freshmen heading into Prelims ... opened his collegiate career with a big throw of 222-0 at the Pepsi Team Invitational, taking fifth ... earned All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA.
High School and Personal: Born in Tacoma, Washington ... parents are Julie and Jonathan Hale ... has one older sister, Alivia, who attends Washington currently ... father played college basketball at Briar Cliff University in Iowa ... one of the top javelin throwers nationally over the past two years ... ranked seventh nationally as a senior in 2011 with his best throw of 212-8 coming in a win at the Oregon Relays ... placed third at the 2011 U.S. Junior Championships with a toss of 208-1 ... also was sixth at the 2010 U.S. Junior meet with a mark of 202-6 ... placed fourth at the 4A state meet as a senior in a deep field, after placing second as a junior in 2010 ... ranked 18th nationally in the javelin in 2010 ... won consecutive Narrows League titles in 2010 and 2011, throwing 205-2 as a senior and 204-10 as a junior ... made state for the first time as a sophomore, placing 15th ... holds the Bellarmine javelin school record ... threw over 200 feet at seven local high school meets over the last two years ... also lettered in football in 2009.
