EUGENE, Ore. -- Washington's pair of All-Americans Cheng-Tsung Pan and Chris Williams each tallied another top-10 finish to highlight the two-day, 54-hole Duck Invitational in which the Huskies finished third as a team.

Washington, ranked No. 4 by Golfstat.com and No. 5 by Golfweek.com, combined to shoot 8-over 296 in Tuesday's final round at Eugene Country Club. The Huskies ended up third out of 15 teams with a final score of 872 (+8).
"It's a disappointing tournament in a lot of ways because I feel like we're so much better than the way we played," Husky Coach Matt Thurmond said as his team headed back to Seattle to enjoy spring break. "But at the same time we're competing hard; we're just not playing that well right now.
"This course tested our driving and we're just not hitting fairways or hitting the big shots you need to hit to score well."
Host Oregon repeated as tournament champions with a score of 858 (-6). SMU was second at 3-under. Washington State was 10th at +26.
Pan ended up tied for 6th with a score of 213 (-3), while Williams ended up tied for 8th at 214 (-4). It was the 27th top-10 of Williams' career and the 12th of Pan's career. Williams' total ranks second all-time in UW history, while Pan is tied for 7th most top-10's in school history.
Pan shot a final round 1-over 73 at the 7,020-yard course situated in the Willamette Valley. He would have tied for fourth, but a bogey on the final hole pushed him down a rung on the leaderboard.
Williams turned in the best round of the day among Huskies. The senior, ranked No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, shot 2-under 70 on the day.
Williams made the turn at even par before back-to-back birdies on No.'s 13 and 14 got him in the red. He would bogey the 16th hole, but responded with a birdie on 17 - his fifth and final birdie of the round.
"Those guys are just special players," Thurmond said of his top two players. "Neither of them will say it was a great week for them, but they're just that good that they can play decent and still finish in the top 10.
"It's great to have guys that are that good on your team, that's for sure."
Trevor Simsby turned in the next best round of the day with a 75, but coupled with his 74 and 78 from the day before finished with a 227 (+11) for the tournament. The Hogan Watch list member tied for 58th out of 88 golfers.
Freshman Jonathan Sanders tied for 41st at +8 (224). He closed the tournament with a 6-over 78.
Fellow freshman Tyler Salsbury tied for 62nd after closing with a non-counting 81. He ended up with a score of 229 (+13).
Seniors Charlie Hughes and Larry Iverson were competing as individuals in Eugene. Hughes shot 81 after firing 69-71 in day one. He ended up tied for 27th at 221 (+5). Iverson ended up at 8-over 224 after shooting 76 in the final round.
The Huskies will compete in two more tournaments before the Pac-12 Championships, which is being played April 29-May 1 at the Los Angeles Country Club. Thurmond is confident his team will be clicking on all cylinders by the time the conference championship rolls around.
"We haven't finished any worse than third this spring -- that's pretty darn good," said Thurmond. "I think we'll be better than fine because disappointment really helps you develop and work on the things that you know you need to work on to be greater."
