EUGENE, Ore. - After a long day at Eugene Country Club that saw the Huskies and 14 other teams play 36 holes in the Duck Invitational, Washington is right back where it started.

The Husky five combined to shoot 288 twice on Monday, putting them nine shots behind host Oregon and two shots behind SMU. No. 4/5 UW is five shots ahead of St. Mary's and Oregon State.
"I'm feeling pretty good about the way we played today," said a tired Husky Coach Matt Thurmond after 36 holes of action from the Willamette Valley. "I don't feel like we're firing on all cylinders and so right now it's a little bit of a battle and we are having to make the most of everything.
"I thought we competed really, really well today."
Sophomore Cheng-Tsung Pan led the Huskies with a pair of 70's and sits tied for fifth at 4-under 140. In the morning round on the 7,020-yard course, Pan had four birdies and a pair of bogeys, while in the afternoon he carded three birdies and a lone bogey.
Pan is tied for fifth with teammate Charlie Hughes. The senior is competing as an individual and his score does not count towards the team total.
Hughes shot 69 and 71.
Senior Chris Williams is the only other Husky in the top 20 of the leaderboard. The All-American, who is also the No. 1 ranked amateur player in the world, sits tied for 14th after shooting even-par 144. Williams fired rounds of 71 and 73.
Freshman Jonathan Sanders shot a pair of 73's and is tied for 28th at 2-over 146. The newcomer from Chatsworth, Calif. averted disaster in the second round when he was 5-over through 11 holes but was able to birdie four of the last seven holes to save a 1-over round.
Freshman Tyler Salsbury shot a non-counting 76 in the morning but rebounded with a 72 in the afternoon. He is tied for 36th at 148.
"Jonathan was all over the place early on, but was able to somehow get it back to 1-over par and then Tyler didn't hit the ball well at all -- he was hitting from out of the trees all day -- but he just found a way to score," said Thurmond.
"I was really proud of the way our freshmen played."
Senior Larry Iverson is tied with Salsbury at 148 after rounds of 76 and 72. He is competing as an individual this week.
Junior Trevor Simsby shot 2-over 74 in the morning and struggled in the afternoon with a 78. He is tied for 59th entering Tuesday's final round.
The golfers will tee off at 8:30 a.m. scattered on the course for a shotgun start.
