
Huskies Host Gonzaga In Dual Opener

SEATTLE -- The Washington men's tennis team will get the spring season underway on Saturday evening when it hosts Gonzaga at 5 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Washington will look to get the dual season off to a fast start against its cross-state rival.
The Huskies enter the match ranked No. 25 in the country, returning most of the talent that saw the Dawgs advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Once again, Washington is led by Kyle McMorrow, who finished 2012 ranked No. 28 in the country.
Also returning for Washington are Marton Bots and Emmett Egger who were regionally ranked a year ago, along with Max Manthou, Viktor Farkas, Nicholas Kamisar and Jeff Hawke who competed at the NCAA's last season.
Joining the Dawgs for their first dual meet are freshmen, Hudson Barnhart, Nico Lunardi, Rishabh Raman and Wendell Watanabe.
Matt Anger leads the Huskies for his 19th season where he is the winningest coach in school history. Anger won his 300th match last season, while also leading the Dawgs to a 17-9 record and 18th-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Washington is 12-0 all-time against Gonzaga who finished last season 9-13 and was eliminated in the first round of the West Coast Conference Tournament. Alvaro Nazal finished the season as Gonzaga's No. 1 player last year as a freshman. He returns for his sophomore season after 21 wins a year ago.
Following the Gonzaga match, Washington fill face a tough stretch of ranked teams. The Dawgs will go out on the road to face No. 17 Tulsa and No. 23 Texas, before returning home to face No. 7 Pepperdine.
