SEATTLE - The foundation for Husky Track is officially being laid this week and the next, as cement pouring began this Wednesday and will continue on for several more days. As of Thursday, the quick-working crews had already poured cement for about two-thirds of the track foundation, as well as a runway on the north side that will support four pole vault pits.
More than 70 trucks per day have been coming in from South Seattle, filled with cement, then poured and smoothed out using a "super screed" machine. Check out the photo gallery for shots of the network of rebar tying it all together, and soon to be filled in with cement. The track surface is slated to be installed starting in August.
