SEATTLE -- Husky men's tennis coach Matt Anger is pleased to announce the signing of Gal Hakak to a National Letter of Intent. Hakak comes to Washington from Israel where he is one of the top amateur players.
Hakak is a native of Ra'anana, Israel and graduated from Aviv High School. He is currently serving his mandatory service in the Israeli military.
"Obviously, I think a lot of Gal as a tennis player," said Anger. "He will, no doubt, help our program right away. However, we did a lot to check out the type of person he is and we couldn't be more thrilled. He has excellent relationships with his coaches and is working very hard to improve. He is a happy person through that work and makes it more enjoyable for those around him. He fights hard in matches and will be an inspired team player."
Anger learned of Hakak through several coaches and former players, all of whom had nothing but the highest praise for the 21year-old. After making the trip to Israel himself, Anger believes he will add a great deal to the Husky tennis program.
The Dawgs will finish up the fall season at the Nordstrom Open this weekend. Play begins Friday, Nov. 16 will run until Monday, Nov. 19.
