SEATTLE – All eyes were on the NCAA Seattle Regional Thursday night as the first four teams played in this year's tournament. The 12th-seeded Huskies never trailed Portland State going on to win 6-2. UW improves to 35-14 on the year and Portland State is 34-17.
In game one, BYU upset No. 23 Auburn 2-1. BYU will play Washington in the winner's bracket on Friday (game 3) at 3 p.m. In game four, Auburn will play Portland State at 5:30 p.m. in an elimination game. The loser of game three and the winner of game four will meet in game five at 8 p.m. in the second elimination game. The winner of game three and the winner of game five will meet for the championship on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. If a game two is necessary it will be at 5 p.m.

Freshman Kaitlin Inglesby (Portland, Ore.) threw her 17 complete game on the season and had a career-best nine strikeouts. She allowed just two runs on six hits, improving to 23-8 in the circle.
Anna Bertrand allowed just four earned runs for the Vikings on six hits, falling to 16-9 on the year.
Each team had chances early on but UW finally broke through in the bottom of the second.
Senior Morgan Stuart (Riverside, Calif.) led off the inning with just her second triple of the season. She scored on the next pitch, a wild pitch during Shawna Wright's (Lancaster, Calif.) at bat.
UW got two more in the third with two outs. Senior Jenn Salling (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) hit her 16th double of the season (a team-high) followed by a two run home run to left by junior Niki Williams (Mission Viejo, Calif.). Williams leads the team in home runs with 14 as she made it 3-0 UW.
The Huskies scored in four-straight innings, getting one in the fourth and two in the fifth. To lead off the fourth, Wright reached on an error and freshman Marki Creger-Zier (Steilacoom, Wash.) pinch-ran. She stole second, reached third on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Maggie Wagner (Woodinville, Wash.) and scored on a wild pitch.
In the fifth, junior Kimi Pohlman (Sammamish, Wash.) hit an infield single and stole her second base of the game. After a walk to Salling, Williams reached on an error to leave the bases loaded for Inglesby. Inglesby drove in the final two runs with a single.
A two-out two RBI double by Arielle Wiser for the Vikings spoiled the shutout for UW in the seventh.
The Huskies were led by Inglesby with two hits in the game and Salling who scored two runs.
