Parks Tied For 15th After Two Rounds At Pac-10's

TEMPE, Ariz. -- After two rounds of the Pac-10 Women's Golf Championships at Tempe's Karsten Golf Course, the Huskies remain in eighth and Sadena Parks is tied for 15th among individuals.
The Huskies shot a 299 (+11) in Monday's second round -- the sixth best team total of the day. Washington is +30 overall -- six strokes behind Arizona State, who sits in sixth on the team leaderboard.
"We played better today," said Coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "We're almost there and we know we can get there. We'll have to play real well to move up the leaderboard, but we have the capability of doing it."
Second-ranked USC remains in the driver's seat at -3 for the tournament. The Trojans will enter the final round with a seven stroke lead over No. 7 Arizona.
Round one leader Tiffany Lua of UCLA and USC's Sophia Popov are tied for first at -4.
Parks (Bethel, Wash.) is the Husky highest on the leaderboard and is +3 overall. She shot a 75 on Monday with a 39 on the back nine and 36 on the front. Parks is in good company at +3, tying with Stephanie Kono of UCLA and Lisa McCloskey of USC. McCloskey is the nation's fifth-ranked player, while Kono is ranked seventh nationally.
UW senior Anya Alvarez carded the best round among Huskies with a 1-over 73. She was mostly even-keel with two bogeys, a birdie and 15 pars. Alvarez is tied for 26th at +7 overall.
Freshman A Ram Choi had a nice round for the Dawgs carding a 2-over 74. She tied Parks for the team high with three birdies during the day. Choi is tied for 38th at +11.
Joining Choi at +11 is fellow freshman Kelli Bowers. The Chelan, Wash. native shot a 5-over 77 on Monday.
Bothell's Darcie Richmond is +13 and 43rd on the leaderboard after a 6-over 78 round.
Washington will be paired with Arizona State for Tuesday's final round. The first group for the Huskies and Sun Devils will tee off from No. 10 starting at 7:50 a.m. PT.
