BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Eight games in six days in California and the No. 6/6 UW softball team went 6-2, completing the stretch with a doubleheader sweep over Cal State Bakersfield (6-16) on Tuesday afternoon.
It was the first-ever meeting between the Huskies and Roadrunners and UW won both games easily, 8-0 in six innings and 9-0 in five innings.
The Huskies improve to 25-2 on the season and will have the rest of the week off for spring break before hosting No. 15/16 Oregon the first weekend in April to open Pac-10 play.
Game One - No. 6/6 Washington 8, Cal State Bakersfield 0 (6 innings)

Freshman Bryana Walker (La Quinta, Calif.) earned her fourth start of the year, just missing out on the win, pitching 3.0 innings and allowing just two hits. Fell freshman Kaitlin Inglesby earned the win in relief, pitching 3.0 innings herself, not allowing a run or hit with two strikeouts. Combined they threw a two-hitter.
The Huskies scored runs in five of the six innings and took an early 1-0 lead in the first with a two-out solo home run to left field by junior Niki Williams (Mission Viejo, Calif.), her eighth of the year.
Sophomore Shawna Wright (Lancaster, Calif.) hit her own home run, a two-run shot in the second to left, her fifth of the year. Senior Morgan Stuart (Riverside, Calif.) was on base after being hit by a pitch.
In the fourth, Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.) drove in Stuart from second after a single by the third baseman and a sacrifice bunt by Wright.
Williams doubled in the fifth and ended the game a triple shy of the cycle. She scored on a double to left by sophomore Jerrin Fa'asua (Oceanside, Calif.). A Stuart singled to left drove in another run.
Inglesby drove in the final two runs in the sixth with a bases loaded double to left.
Washington had 11 hits in the game.
Game Two - No. 6/6 Washington 9, Cal State Bakersfield 0 (5 innings)

Inglesby earned her second win on the day improving to 14-1 on the season. She earned the start in game two, allowing just three hits in 3.0 innings. Freshman Whitney Jones (Upland, Calif.) pitched a perfect final 2.0 innings in relief.
UW had 12 hits and allowed just three in game two. Junior Kimi Pohlman (Sammamish, Wash.) led the team with four hits. She scored the first run of the game in the first on a single by senior Jenn Salling (Port Coquitlam, B.C.).
A Williams single drove in the second run of the first inning.
After two scoreless innings, UW scored five runs in the fourth inning. Wright singled up the middle to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by junior Jenna Clifton (Glendale, Ariz.). Hayward drew a walk and Pohlman drove in a run. Hayward scored on a passed ball and Williams hit a three-run home run to left field.
Senior Ashley Tuiasosopo pinch hit in the fifth and hit an infield single. She scored on a double to left center by junior Taylor Smith (Olympia, Wash.). Smith scored the final run on a sacrifice fly to right by Clifton.
