WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i -- For the third-consecutive round a different Husky shot the lowest 18 of the day and the Husky men's golf team ended up 12th out of 20 teams at the Ameri Ari Invitational at Waikoloa Kings' Course.

On Friday, sophomore Charlie Hughes had the hot hand for the Huskies, firing a 5-under 67 at the 7,074-yard par 72 course. Hughes was bogey-free for the day and recorded the lowest round by a Husky for the tournament. He shot even par for the first two rounds, so his 5-under 211 total was good enough for a 17th-place tie.

The most consistent Husky of the tournament was sophomore Chris Williams. He was under par in all three rounds after shooting a 2-under 70 on Friday. He ended up -7 (209) for the tournament and tied for 10th out of the 114 golfers.

Three players tied for medalist honors at -13 overall: Oregon's Daniel Miernicki, UCLA's Patrick Cantlay and Texas' Bobby Hudson. Oklahoma State ran away with the team title, combining to shoot a 34-under 830 -- five strokes better than Texas.

Washington ended up -5 overall (288-285-286-859), one stroke behind Stanford and three strokes better than Oregon State.

Tze Huang Choo, the lone senior of the five-man squad, was the next highest Husky finisher tying for 59th overall at +2. He had a low round of 68 yesterday and followed that up with a 3-over 75. Choo hurt his chances early with a quadruple-bogey seven on his first hole of the day - the par-3 seventh hole.

Ty Chambers tied for 72nd after a 2-over 74 put him at +5 for the tournament. Kevin Spooner shot a final round 3-over 75 and ended up +12 overall and in 101st.

The Huskies take a week off before heading to California for the Battle at the Beach from Feb. 13-15.
