SEATTLE - Senior forward Sarah Martinez scored back-to-back goals in the second half to propel Washington past new Pac-12 conference foe Colorado, 2-1. The Huskies move to 5-5-3 overall, and 1-2-1 in conference play.
The Buffs struck first when Anne Stuller slid an unassisted goal past UW's Jorde LaFontaine-Kussmann in the 21st minute of the first half. Washington evened the score quickly after the half when Martinez connected from Lindsay Elston's corner only two minutes into the second period. Martinez then followed up with the game-winner with 14 minutes remaining.
Controlling possession for most of the second half, the Dawgs out-shot Colorado 14 to 8 on the night. Lafontaine-Kussman finished with 3 saves.
The Huskies will host Utah Sunday at noon.
