TULSA, Okla. - Husky freshman Emmett Egger fell in the second round of qualifying today at the ITA All-American Championships, hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Egger had won his collegiate debut on Monday.
Needing two more wins to reach the main singles draw at the first major tourney of the season, Egger came up short Tuesday morning against Oklahoma's Guillermo Alcorta by a 6-2, 6-4 count.
Later in the afternoon, he and junior Kyle McMorrow competed in the qualifying doubles draw, but they were unable to get past Duke's Raphael Hemmela and Fred Saba in their opener, falling 8-4.
McMorrow was an automatic entrant in the main singles draw, which will get underway on Thursday, Oct. 6.
