Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso
Opening Statement:
On if she was surprised by the win: "The win doesn't surprise me. The way we did it off of such an outstanding pitcher surprised I think everybody. But this team can hit it hard. They've got power. When they get it done they can do something like that."
Oklahoma player Keilani Ricketts
On taking the circle with the lead: "It was great. I can always count on my offense to score runs for me and to just be able to have that [made me] want to pitch better, I guess, to even out the offense and defense."
On pitching against the Huskies again after losing earlier this season: "I just felt like I was able to learn from that first game a lot. I feel like all season we've been able to prepare for games like these."
Oklahoma player Amber Flores
On her success against Lawrie: "With her, you have to be ready for speed. She's a power pitcher. Our coaching staff did a really good job of preparing us for that for her speed throughout the week. I think as a team we were just really prepared for it."
On whether Washington seemed dazed after the 2-run first inning: "We felt like we had the momentum early. It's good in these types of games to get the momentum on your side first and we just tried to keep it the whole game."
On being confident for tomorrow: "Definitely after what we did today we're confident. I think we've been confident this whole past month we've been on a nice little streak. But, we also know that we've got to bring it tomorrow. They're the defending national champs and know how to bounce back better than anybody. We know that and we know that we have to be prepared tomorrow and step up to be ready to play."
Washington head coach Heather Tarr
Opening Statement: "I can't say that I'm not a little surprised by the long ball. They're an aggressive hitting team. They swing the bats well. But from my perspective, we're not so much disappointed in that because if that's going to happen, that's going to happen. But more so in that we didn't compete today as hard as we could have. Tomorrow is a new day and we'll see how much fight we have in us. I think we have a lot of fight in us. We're a pretty good team."
On what this team does that will help come back from the 0-1 deficit: "The bottom line is, I trust the leadership on our team and that we get it. We understand that we're not going to lose sleep over the past. We're going to play forward. That's what we do."
Washington player Danielle Lawrie
On her performance: "We did our research obviously on them coming in. I think just with what I've gone through, I can do a better job of just everything. I hold myself 100 percent accountable for what went on. Obviously I miss, but at times they put good swings on good pitches. I still feel like there's more that I can do. That's why we get to play tomorrow. One game at a time."
On her match-up with Flores: "Amber Flores is a good hitter. I think when you have two seniors that are going at it; I've got to do a better job."
On whether she was shocked tonight: "It's the game. The game has its ups and downs and I feel like moments like this humble you as a player and allow for you to say hey, tomorrow could potentially be the last game that I'll ever play, so what am I going to do to battle my butt off every single pitch. I'm going to go to the hotel tonight, look myself in the mirror and say, what am I going to do different? Because I have to be different."
Washington player Jenn Salling
On the mood of the team: "Obviously, we're kind of disappointed but we play tomorrow. We've got to move on. We played 10, 15 minutes ago and I think the team is already over it. You can't dwell on this game. If you do that, tomorrow is going to be a long day."
