SEATTLE (AP) - Ian Clark scored 21 points to lead Belmont past Portland State 74-67 on Friday night in the season opening game of the Athletes In Action Classic.
Keaton Belcher added 16 points and Jon House had 11 for the Bruins of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Belmont led by only 68-66 with 3:25 remaining but scored six of the game's final seven points. Belcher and Clark sealed the victory by making four consecutive free throws in the final 98 seconds.
Leading returning scorer Dominic Waters had 17 points and Phil Nelson had 16 points and seven rebounds for Portland State of the Big Sky Conference.
