
Huskies Score Season High at Salbasgeon Suites Invitational

Corvallis, Ore. - Senior Kelly McDonald tied for first on beam and was second All-Around in the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational at Corvallis, Ore., on Friday night. The Huskies scored a season-high 193.675 and finished fourth in the five-team meet.
Oregon State won the meet with a 196.550, followed by Kentucky with a 196.100 and Boise State, who was third with a 194.550. Seattle Pacific was fifth with a 190.750.
The Huskies entered the evening needing at least a 193.325 to stay alive for a possible NCAA Regional invitation. Thanks in large part to a season-high equaling 48.875 on floor, the Huskies remain potentially alive for a 32nd consecutive NCAA Regional bid.
McDonald (Seattle/Roosevelt HS) tied OSU's Jami Lanz for first on beam with a season-high 9.900. For McDonald, the individual title was her 11th of the season and 25th of her career, moving her into sole possession for 11th most in UW history. McDonald also tied for third on bars with a 9.825 and tied for ninth on vault with a 9.800.
Lanz won All-Around with a 39.525, followed by McDonald, who scored a Husky season-high 39.325. Chelsea Bakken (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View HS) was sixth All-Around with a 38.825 and Ashley Houghting (Welland, Ont./Northview Heights Secondary) was 12th with a 37.225.
Kristen Omori (Kirkland, Wash./Juanita HS) and Jennifer Chang (Tacoma, Wash./Wilson HS) were the only other Huskies to crack the top-10 in individual events. Omori was sixth on floor with a career-best equaling 9.850 and eighth on vault with a 9.825. Chang was seventh on beam after setting a new career high with a 9.775.
The Huskies return to Corvallis next Saturday, March 25 to wrap up their regular at the Pac-10 Championships.
