WASHINGTON QUOTES
Head Coach Matt Anger
On the win:
On the play of Christoph Palmanshofer: "He has played that guy before. That guy is a very good player. They both had match points (in the previous meeting), and Christoph actually ended up losing 7-6 in the third. For him to win in straight sets is a great effort. But our doubles was fantastic today. Looking back on it now, the way they came out and played with their depth, we needed that doubles point. If we didn't have that doubles point, and they came out that way, it would have been tough to turn that momentum around. I think the doubles, obviously it was big when you look at a 4-3 score, but it was even larger than that today "
On the Round of 16 playing Virginia: "We haven't played them. We're going to be looking forward to it, and I'll start thinking about that one tomorrow."
Senior Christoph Palmanshofer
On winning their last home match: "It feels so good. It feels like we started playing last night and kept playing all night and all day today. It was such a long match. I am so glad and so happy. I am so proud of all the guys that we pulled through. We are going to Texas next week and I can't believe it."
On the crowd: "It was amazing. Even tough it was like 300 or 400 people it felt like 10,000. Every time you win a point there are people screaming and going crazy. It was such a great feeling to play in front of our people.
Senior Alex Vlaski
On winning at his last home match: "There couldn't be a better way. People say that if you win 4-0 without any trouble, that's a better feeling than winning 7-5 in the 3rd. But I think this is the best feeling with the whole crowd behind you. We pulled it out, and it was awesome. It was an unbelievable feeling. Just keep looking forward, get some rest, and see how far we can go. One step further than ever before, that's my dream."
Sophomore Alex Slovic
On the final set of the match: "After winning the second set easily, I thought the final set was going to be easy. But momentum just changed a couple of times in the final set. I was up 5-4, and 40-love, and at this level of tennis we usually win easily. I don't know how I dropped my serve after 40-love. It was 5-all, and there were a lot of things going through my mind. But I was able to break him (Johan Berg) and then hold my serve."
On next week: "We do have expectations, we don't want to set high goals because we wouldn't play our best. I think we should just go and play as hard as we can and then we will see."
USC QUOTES
Head Coach Peter Smith
On the match against UW:
On USC's season: "Not the way we really wanted it, but we put ourselves in this position and it was a little too much for us. We played a good match, but they just played better. They deserved to win."
