Bixler and Prugh Tie for 12th in Tucson

Washington freshman Zach Bixler and sophomore Alex Prugh tied for 12th at 5-under 211 as the 25th-ranked Husky men's golf team placed 13th at the National Invitational Tournament at Tucson National Golf Club. Despite shooting their best round of the week, a 7-under 281, the Huskies could not move up the leaderboard and completed play with a 2-under score of 862.
Bixler, who was tied for ninth entering the final round of play, shot 1-under 71 on Tuesday while Prugh carded a 2-under 70.
Washington's team score marked the second consecutive tournament the Huskies have finished below par. They shot 4-under 860 last week to win Oregon's Duck Invitational.
Washington junior James Lepp, who carded 76 and 74 to open play, finished strong with a 5-under 67 during the final round to advance to 41st at 1-over 217. Lepp has now shot at least one round in the 60s in four of his last five tournament appearances. Sterling Clark was 66th at 224 while Erik Olson was 68th at 225.
Texas Christian beat Arkansas by three strokes to claim the tournament championship at 26-under 838. The Razorbacks Matt Bortis took medalists honors by shooting 12-under 204. Pepperdine's Michael Putnam and Texas Matthew Rosenfeld tied for second at 205.
Washington's next scheduled event is the U.S. Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course April 16-17.
