Huskies Finish Second in Four-Team Meet

Fullerton, Calif. - The 21st-ranked Washington women's gymnastics team opened its season by finishing second in a four-team meet at Cal-State Fullerton. Twelfth-ranked Oregon State scored 195.200, while Washington was second with 194.625, followed by Cal-State Fullerton (193.225) and Sacramento State (192.275).
Senior Carly Dockendorf won the all-around competition, helped by a 10.000 on floor and by winning the balance beam (9.825). For Dockendorf the 10 was the sixth of her career and the fifth time on floor exercise.
The only event the Huskies won was the floor, where the team tallied 49.725 points. Sophomore Chelsea Bakken and senior Tacia LaBatte each scored a 9.950 in the event to tie for second overall behind Dockendorf.
Freshman Brittney Brabec was fourth in the all-around (38.100) in her collegiate debut.
Washington's next meet will be at ninth-ranked Arizona State on Friday, Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Wells Fargo Arena. The Huskies first home meet will be on Friday, Jan. 21 at 7:00 p.m. in Bank of America Arena against third-ranked Stanford.
