Husky Gymnasts Upset No. 5 Arizona State

Tempe, Ariz. - The 11th-ranked Washington gymnastics team upset fifth-ranked Arizona State, 193.050-192.750 in Tempe, Ariz. on Friday night in front of 1,044 fans at Wells Fargo Arena. The dual-meet victory was the first time the Huskies (3-1) have ever defeated the Sun Devils (3-1) in their home arena.
Senior Carly Dockendorf was the only Husky to stake claim to an individual title, sharing first place with ASU's Cassandra Jusino on uneven bars (9.825). Dockendorf took second in the all-around (39.125) finishing behind ASU's Ashley Kelly (39.425), who won the vault (9.875) and the balance beam (9.925).
The Huskies won the team title on vault (48.600 to 48.100) and floor (48.525 to 47.325), which are events that ASU had to count falls toward their team totals. Redshirt-freshman Nikki Waiss paced the Huskies effort on vault, taking third (9.775).
The Huskies return home on Friday, Jan. 21 at 7:00 p.m. in Bank of America Arena to face Stanford, who was ranked No. 3 in the pre-season poll.
