SACRAMENTO, CAL. - No. 14 Washington women's tennis team (11-1) defeated Sacramento State 6-1, Sunday, at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club. The victory gives Washington a nine-match winning streak.
The tandem of Claire Carter and Darija Klaic defeated Margarita Karnaukhova and Ann Roslund 8-2 in the No. 1 position. Huskies Colleen Gray and Dea Sumantri defeated Roberta Fessenko and Amanda Sanches 8-3 No.2 position and in the No. 3 position duo of Erin Boisclair and Dinka Hadzic downed Petra Abraham and Cristina Rivieccio 8-6.
Karnaukhova upset UW's Carter 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 position. UW's Sumantri downed Fessenko in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 2 position and in the No. 3 position Husky Boisclair defeated Roslund in 6-2, 5-5 (ret).
UW's Gray downed Abraham 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 4 position. Hadzic defeated Sanches 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 5 position, and Husky Erin Hoe defeated Rivieccio 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 6 position.
Up next the Huskies will take on Fresno State, Tuesday, March 25, at 12 p.m. at Fresno State University.
