Husky Gymnasts Upset No. 8 Stanford

Seattle, WA - The 14th-ranked Washington women's gymnastics team (6-3) upset eighth-ranked Stanford (7-2-1) 196.775 to 196.750 in a dual meet held at Bank of America Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. The Huskies were led by sophomore Carly Dockendorf, who won the all-around for the first time in her career with a score of 39.525. Dockendorf took top honors on both floor exercise and uneven bars.
Washington's team score tied as the fourth best in Husky history.
The Huskies started the meet by posting a season-high score of 49.400 on vault. Senior Stacy Wong paced UW's effort with a 9.950 performance to win the event. That was also Washington's top score this season on vault. Kelly McDonald and Tanya LaBatte posted career best scores of 9.925 and 9.850, respectively, on the event.
Washington was equally impressive on bars, also recording a season high mark of 49.450. Dockendorf winning score of 9.950 was a career best. Kelly McDonald was second during the event with a career-best mark of 9.925. Kim Lewis also notched a career best with a 9.850.
The low point of the meet for the Huskies came on beam where they scored 48.600. Courtney Canavan and Wong both fell during their routines. Tonya Powers led the Huskies on beam with a career high score of 9.900. McDonald also posted a career best with a 9.825.
Holding a slim one-tenth of one point lead heading into the final rotation, the Huskies manage to hold off the Cardinal thanks to strong floor routines by Dockendorf (9.950) and Emily Pritchard (9.925). Pritchard was second in the all-around at 39.475
Stanford's top effort came on beam where Lindsay Wing won with a 9.950 performance and Lise Leveille was second at 9.925.
The Huskies next meet is Feb. 21 at California with Denver and Sacramento State.
