Washington's victory improved its record to 17-3 overall, 9-2 in the Pac-10. The win extended the Huskies home winning streak to 11 games this season, the longest since UW won 13 in a row during the 1988-89 season.
A preliminary estimate of $38, 500-plus was raised by today's silent auction benefiting the Washington women's basketball team and program.
UW opened the game on a 22-2 run and held the Bruins to just 8 points through the first 10:44 of the first half. Washington's largest lead was 36 points (twice) at the end of the second half.
The game attendance of 8,408 set a new Bank of America Arena record, eclipsing the old record of 8,170 vs. Depaul March 17, 1991. Today's attendance was the ninth-highest all-time in Pac-10 history.
Giuliana Mendiola set a new school record for single game scoring with 43 points. She surpassed the previous record of 39 points set by Shaunda Greene vs. Northern Illinois on Nov. 30, 1991 (101-91 2OT). The single game regulation record for scoring was 38 points set by Carlin McClary vs. Seattle University (80-73), March 1, 1980.
Giuliana Mendiola's 43 points was the 4th best by a UCLA opponent in a single game.
Giuliana Mendiola just missed a triple-double for the second straight game with 43 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists. Mendiola did record her 6th double-double this season and the 11th of her career. Her 12 rebounds tied her career high set twice previously to today.
UW's 111 points today were 3 points shy of tying the school record of 114 points set vs. Weber State (114-61) on December 20, 1985. However, it was the highest point total by a Husky team against a Pac-10 opponent. Today marked the second time this season the Huskies have scored at least 100 points. The other time being the 105 points scored versus St. Boneventure (105-48) in the Seattle Times Classic. It was also the fourth-highest point total scored by a UCLA opponent.
UW shot a school best 60.0% (15-25) from the three-point field goal range, eclipsing the previous school record of 57.1% set two times previous this season against St. Boneventure and USC January 30th.
Washington's 15 three pointers was one shy of their school record and Pac-10 record. The Huskies tied their Pac-10 and school records with 16 three pointers versus St. Boneventure earlier this season. UW shares the Pac-10 record with Stanford.
Autrey tied a career high 23 points in today's match-up. She accomplished this feat earlier this year as well against North Carolina St. (88-78).
Loree Payne, better known for her shooting ability, tied her career high with 6 assists marking the third time in her career she has done this.
UCLA's Nikki Blue's 35 points set a new school freshman record. The previous high was 33 by Maylana Martin in 1997. Her 32 field goal attempts tied the school record with Rehema Stephens on December 28, 1991 versus Virginia.
