SEATTLE (AP) - Anthony Washington scored 14 points as Washington defeated Portland State 73-65 Friday night.
Brandon Roy, Will Conroy and Bobby Jones each added 11 points for Washington (1-0).
Blake Walker scored 20 points, Seamus Boxley 15 and Sheu Oduniyi 12 for Portland State (0-1).
Portland State has lost 16 consecutive road games, dating back to the 2001-02 season.
Hakeem Rollins' layup with 8:40 remaining in the game capped an 11-4 Washington run that broke the game's final tie and put the Huskies up 54-47.
The Vikings pulled back within one point before the Huskies scored eight straight points, including four by Washington, to take a 62-53 lead with 4:38 left.
The Huskies led by at least six points the rest of the way.
A 22-2 run early in the game gave Washington a 24-8 lead, but the Vikings responded with a 24-8 run to tie the game at 32 with 1:58 left in the first half.
The Vikings trailed only 37-34 at halftime despite 18 first-half turnovers and committed 28 for the game.
