
Huskies Defeated By Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Jimmie Haywood scored 16 points as Oregon State surged in the second half to beat Washington 82-62 on Saturday.
Philip Ricci had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the balanced Beavers (9-7, 2-5 Pacific-10), who had six players in double figures.
Doug Wrenn led Washington (7-10, 2-6) with 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Beavers jumped to a 14-2 lead, but the Huskies rallied to take a 33-32 lead late in the first half. Oregon State's Lamar Hurd hit one of two free throws to pull the Beavers into a 37-37 tie at the half.
The game remained tight until Oregon State hit Washington with a 9-0 run to make it 49-40. Haywood's 3-pointer with 8:18 left gave the Beavers a 66-53 lead and the Huskies never got closer than 12.
Oregon State, which generally struggles on offense, shot 51 percent in the second half. The Beavers also spent a lot of time at the free throw line, hitting 26-of-36.
