Loree Payne, who came off the bench for the first time this season, scored a season-high 26 points. It was two short of her career high 28 .... Cheryl Sorenson made her first career start today.
Husky coach June Daugherty
"I didn't feel we did a good job rebounding the other night, so today I put the five best rebounders in the starting lineup. We wanted to be more physical and win the war. I was thrilled with how we handled the adversity of playing a horrible game at Oregon. We responded well. Our defense was very strong today. We played hard. The players lived up to the challenge 100 percent.
"I'm proud of Loree and how she responded to coming off the bench. She came in with emotional intensity."
Loree Payne
"It was obvious we needed to do something about the rebounding, after we got
outrebounded by 20 at Oregon. We needed to see if we could turn it around. I
needed to focus on my game and come out strong. It was tough for me to be on
the bench, but I can't control that. I just need to come out and play my
game. It's the team first and that's what is important. This was a huge win
for us. This is a tough place to play."
