
Huskies Men's Hoops Hold Off Wichita State

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Will Perkins led Washington with 16 points, but the Huskies had to hang on down the stretch Thursday night to beat Wichita State 69-66.
Washington (3-1) led 67-57 with 1:21 left, but Terrell Benton hit a 3-point shot and the Shockers hit 6-of-6 free throws in the last 36 seconds to close within three.
Wichita State (2-1) missed on game-tying 3-point attempts by C.C. McFall and Terrell Benton in the final seven seconds.
Wichita State led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but the Huskies cut it to 36-33 at halftime.
Bryan Brown and Thalo Green scored 15 points each and Michael Johnson added 14 for Washington. Brown hit 4-of-5 3-point shots.
Wichita State got a game-high 24 points from Benton. Troy Mack added 14 and Duke Tshomba had 10.
