Volleyball Falls To No. 2 Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 2-ranked Stanford volleyball team swept Washington, 15-8, 15-9, 15-5 Friday night at Maples Pavilion and, along with UCLA, won a share of the Pacific-10 Conference championship.
The Cardinal, 25-2 overall and 17-1 in the Pac-10, will earn the league's automatic berth based on a tie-breaker edge over UCLA, which beat USC Friday night. The Huskies, who close out the season Saturday at Cal, fell to 8-17 overall, 4-13 in the league.
Sophomore Sara Sandrik led Stanford with 13 kills and seven blocks, both match highs. Three-time All-American Kerri Walsh added six kills and a match-high 12 digs .
Washington got eight kills from Lisa Underhill to lead the team. Freshman Elissa Ross contributed a team-high eight digs.
The Huskies' match tomorrow night at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley will be the final match of the season for both Washington and California.
