Ashley Andrews, an Olympia, Wash. native enters her second season on the Washington coaching staff in 2016. In her first season with the Huskies, Andrews helped guide the team to an overall record of 42-17 and the program's 22nd consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament.
In 2015, Andrews helped shape a Husky offense that posted one of the best power-hitting seasons in program history. Washington hit a program-record 86 home runs and posted a program-record .582 slugging percentage. The Huskies also broke records in runs scored (460), RBI (418), walks (269) and on-base percentage (.445).
Andrews was a four-year starter at the University of Tennessee and was part of two teams that advanced to the Women's College World Series. While completing her master's degree in Sports Psychology at UT, she served as a graduate assistant for two seasons under Ralph and Karen Weekly.
"Ashley is an up and comer. She will relate well to our players," head coach Heather Tarr said. "She's a bright young lady with a noticeable energy and sense of self confidence."
Andrews, who attended Tumwater (Wash.) High, will work with the UW outfielders and assist pitching coach Mike Roberts with the catchers and battery development. She will also assist Tarr in recruiting.
"Ashley's leadership and versatility as a player will prove beneficial to us as a coaching staff. She is bright and focused. I'm excited to get her here and immerse her in our culture," Tarr said.
